Curtis Singleton
Curtis Singleton
Curtis Singleton is the founder of the C4D Kidz, LLC.
Growing up in North Philadelphia, Curtis faced numerous hardships which inspired him to envision a system that would support children and families, helping them avoid the challenges and shortcomings he had personally experienced. Curtis knew he was lucky to have overcome his environment, and recognized that not all children would be so fortunate. He realized that childhood experiences can shape one’s future, and that many young people were at risk of being consumed by the devastation surrounding them. Curtis accepted as his mission a desire to help as many children and families as he could.
Change 4a Dollar (C4D) Academy started as an afterschool enrichment program which focused heavily on financial literacy and has since blossomed into a premier resource for both school administrators, community organizations, and families. C4D Academy’s program now reaches over 200 students within five public and charter schools throughout Philadelphia, with more prospective partnerships soon to come! With the success of C4D Academy, Curtis decided to fill the clear need for youth programming in his community and expanded his offerings to include Camp C4D and C4D Sports.
Curtis has been recognized for his contributions to financial literacy and the advancement of youth education, winning awards from the City Council of Philadelphia and the state house of representatives, as well as recognition from his current home state of Delaware. C4D has expanded its community partnerships to include notable corporations such as the Bank of Philadelphia, Operation Hope, PNC Bank, Wells Fargo, Philadelphia Sixers, and Junior Achievement.
In 2004, Curtis founded his first company, a nonprofit mentorship program originally named Early Life Advancement. The aim of Early Life Advancement was to provide positive leadership experiences for at risk children. With a collection of key partnerships including the City of Philadelphia and the School District of Philadelphia, Curtis positioned himself to impact real change. Curtis started multiple charitable initiatives in the North Philadelphia area, each supporting at-risk youth and enabling them to give back to their communities. Seeing the potential of these initiatives, and desiring to create an all-encompassing experience for the children with whom he worked, Curtis realized he needed to generate funding in order to support and continue his charitable work.
In 2009, Curtis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a minor in Accounting. His newly acquired training enabled him to identify the lack of financial literacy throughout his community and to recognize the barrier this placed in front of the next generation striving to succeed. Compelled to make a change, he switched his focus from mentorship to teaching financial literacy, and Change 4a Dollar was born.
In 2018, Curtis further expanded the reach of C4D programs, opening his first full-service early childhood center to serve toddlers through pre-school aged children, C4D Kidz Childcare & Learning Center. This completed Curtis’ vision of serving children of all ages, from toddlers through high school.
As a whole, these eight programs and initiatives make up C4D Kidz and, together with our families, create the village it takes to raise the children in our C4D Kidz community.
